What is SDA?

Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) is housing that has been tailor-made or modified to enable people with disability who have high-needs to receive the support they need.

SDA homes come in different in all different sizes and designs, including houses, units, apartments and shared accommodation, to meet a variety of needs.

Funding is only available to a small proportion of NDIS participants, who have an extreme functional impairment or very high support needs that meet specific eligibility criteria.

Eligible participants receive the funding to pay to live in a purpose-built SDA home. Payments are made to the provider of an SDA property by the NDIA when an SDA participant is living in the house. The participant is also required to pay ongoing reasonable rent contributions.

Visit the NDIS website to learn more about SDA funding.
